What is the site geology?
The site is situated over a “Red Bed” formation from the Triassic and Permian Age which is approximately 800 feet thick and comprised of silts and clays.

Does the waste seep into the groundwater?
No, the Red Bed formation acts as a natural barrier to prevent seepage. The only surface water body nearby is a playa-lake called Laguna Toston, which is used as a disposal pond for a nearby potash mining operation.
